Carlton Hill is about 103 m above sea level at its highest point. It is a good vantage point to view Edinburgh after a short climb up an easy incline.
The City Observatory is sited here as are several monuments including the one commemorating the Dugal Stewart (1753 - 1828) seen above to the left of pan. He was a Scottish philosopher/mathematician.
